



16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual campaign that runs from November 25 to December 10. It begins on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and concludes on Human Rights Day.
This impactful initiative aims to raise awareness about the impacts of gender-based violence and to promote efforts to end it. Each day during this period focuses on different aspects of the issue, encouraging individuals and communities to take and advocate for change. The colour for the campaign is orange.
NCWSA 16 Days Committee





The NCWSA 16 Days Committee is comprised of delegates from member organisations. The Committee seeks to collaborate in our efforts to promote the 16 Days of Activism in South Australia by being a central point of contact to businesses, the media, the government and the public.

It is our aim to raise awareness of the 16 Days through supporting local events, organising large scale activations and utilising media and communication to raise awareness.

Tues 25 November - Wed 10 December
Digital Art Presentation - Domestic Violence's Impact on Families
Organised by the Zonta Club of Adelaide Torrens.
​Visit the Burnside Library foyer to view the digital art presentation depicting the impact of Domestic Violence on Families. Available during opening hours during the 16 Days

Free Information Boxes and Library Display
Organised by the Zonta Club of Mt Barker
Local cafes, bakeries, the Mt Barker Library, the Britannia at Kanmantoo, the Mt Barker Community Centre and local police stations are to be supplied with our special boxes with free information about Domestic Violence assistance and statistics.
Wristbands, lapel ribbons, 1800 respect note paper, lanyards, pens and stickers are all provided free and are always well received.
Small credit card sized information is available detailing the latest statistics re. Domestic Violence. There will also be a display running throughout the whole 16 Days at the Mt Barker Library showcasing books on Coercive Control and Domestic Violence.

Lighting of the Icons
Organised by the National Council of Women SA 16 Days of Activism Committee
On the first day of the 16 Days of Activism, State Parliament House, Adelaide Town Hall and the Adelaide Convention Centre will be lighting up in orange.

Voices of Resilience
Organised by the City of Charles Sturt
Sharing powerful stories from women with lived experience, alongside insights from Catherine House and Zahra Foundation, Voices of Resilience will be a source of hope, support, and pathways out of crisis.
The leading cause of homelessness for women in Australia in 2023/24, family and domestic violence was identified by 45% of all women and girls seeking homelessness assistance.

Vigil and Solidarity Walk
Organised by Zonta Club of Fleurieu Peninsula and Goolwa Junction
Starting at the main street then ending at the river, join us for a vigil and a walk of solidarity. Guest speakers and music to follow.

Celebration of Women - A Powerful Portrayal of Strength through Art
Organised by the Zonta Clubs of Adelaide Hills and Adelaide Flinders
The Music, Art and poetry from women survivors of DV who are celebrating the recovery of the effects of DV will be on display at the Port Noarlunga Art Centre, Gawler St. ZCAH will include an Orange Lady display including , Hearts and ribbons which will also be distributed The ZCAF will encourage participants to Share/write their views on RESPECT.

Organised by the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders
Throughout the 16 Days, the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders will join with the RESPECT
CAG’s 1000 Butterflies Display in the Libraries and Community Centres located around
the Onkaparinga Council Area. The Orange Lady displays will share the space with the
1000 Butterflies displays around 10 Venues in the Council Area

Organised by the Zonta Club of Mt Barker
Throughout the 16 Days, the Artisan Oak Bakery at Littlehampton will have orange donuts and iced orange cupcakes.

Organised by the Zonta Club of Port Lincoln
Join us on the 25th November as we remember the 16 Days of Activism. This annual campaign highlights the importance of ending violence against women and promoting gender equality worldwide. Over the past 16 days, we’ll come together to raise awareness, inspire action, and foster a safer, more equitable society for all. Enjoy a 3 course meal as you listen to our special Guest Speakers who have lived experiences.

One Step One Community - Walk Against Domestic Violence
Organised by Zonta Club of Mt Barker
Meet at The Haven at the Mount Barker Community Centre and walk to the pop-up park in support of ending domestic violence. At the end of the walk, there will be guest speakers, a free BBQ and coffee van. Families and dogs are welcome to attend. Please wear orange.

Members of the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders will be at Norwood Parade handing out orange ribbons and hearts.

Men Leading Change Walk
Organised by Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders
Walk on Beach Rd from Rotary Park to Market Square where a free event with stalls and bands will entertain the attendees.
The ZCAF will have an information stand including orange ladies, orange hearts and
ribbons. Large Orange Ladies and orange woollen pompoms will decorate around the
Ripple where walkers will congregate before the walk. Orange Ribbons will be handed
out by members of ZCAF who will be wearing orange, to the men and women who are
walking.

Organised by the Zonta Club of Adelaide Hills
Join us at this iconic location overlooking Adelaide, to reflect on, and honour, women and children who have lost their lives as a result of Domestic Violence.

16 Days, 3 Voices: Speaking out Against Gender-Based Violence
Organised by the National Council of Women 16 Days of Activism Committee and UniSA

Join us in a discussion of wide-ranging gender-based violence (GBV) topics including
â§« responding to technology-based GBV
â§« addressing GBV using a human rights approach
â§« helping children exposed to family violence form healthy relationships as they mature.
These perspectives will be given by Professor Elspeth McInnes, Associate Professor Sarah Moulds and Dr Fiona Buchanan, followed by a facilitated Q&A discussion session. ​
